Celtic Spirit recorded an instrumental version of the song Mystic Lipstick.

Christy Moore
Christy Moore has recorded many of Jimmy MacCarthy’s songs over the years, beginning with the seminal Ride On on his album of the same name in 1984. Christy Moore then went on to record Mystic Lipstick, The Mad Lady & Me, Missing You, Bright Blue Rose and The Contender.

Craig Bickhardt
Craig Bickhardt co-wrote Jimmy MacCarthy’s song There Is No Night and released it on his 2014 album The More I Wonder.
Crustation & Bronagh Slevin
Crustation & Bronagh Slevin recorded a cover of Ride On for their 1997 album Bloom.

De Glydne Lover
De Glydne Lover recorded a Danish cover of As I Leave Behind Neidin, titled Husker Du Det?.

Finbar Wright
Finbar Wright recorded three of Jimmy MacCarthy’s songs for his 1999 album Another Season. These songs included The Contender, The Highest Point and Wonder Child.

Fiona Tyndall
Fiona Tyndall recorded five of Jimmy MacCarthy’s songs for her 2021 album New Frontiers. These songs included No Frontiers, As I Leave Behind Neidin, The Contender, Diamond Days and Bright Blue Rose.

Frances Black
Frances Black recorded three of Jimmy MacCarthy’s songs for her 1995 album The Sky Road, most notably the title track, but this album also included the songs The Last Word and Love’s Magic Bite.

Jennifer Licko
Jennifer Licko recorded a cover of Jimmy MacCarthy’s song The Song of the Singing Horseman for her 2008 album Shelton: A Thousand Curses Upon Love.

Jimmy Crowley
Jimmy Crowley recorded a cover of The Mad Lady & Me for his 1999 album Nora Lee and Other Ballads.

Linda Martin
Linda Martin recorded a cover of Jimmy MacCarthy’s song Miles of Eyes and released it as a single in 1987.

Loïc Bléjean & Tad Sargent
Loïc Bléjean & Tad Sargent recorded a cover of Missing You for their self-titled album in 2016.

Marc Roberts
Marc Roberts recorded The Contender and Bright Blue Rose for his 2009 album The Promise.

Mary Black
Mary Black has recorded numerous songs by Jimmy MacCarthy over the years. These songs include State of Heart, Strange Thing, As I Leave Behind Neidin and Diamond Days on the 1985 album Without the Fanfare, Katie on the 1987 album By The Time It Gets Dark, No Frontiers on the 1989 album of the same name as well as Shuffle of the Buckled, Bright Blue Rose on 1991’s Babes In The Wood and Adam at the Window and Wonder Child on the 1995 album Circus. Several of these songs were included on the 2017 album Mary Black sings Jimmy Mac along with four new recordings of There Is No Night, Love’s Last Chance, What We Came Here For, Mystic Lipstick, as well as a live recording of As I Leave Behind Neidin featuring Mary Black and Jimmy MacCarthy.

Mary Coughlan
Mary Coughlan has recorded several of Jimmy MacCarthy’s songs over the years, most notably Ride On and Ancient Rain on the albums Under The Influence and Love Me or Leave Me, which were released in 1987 and 1994 respectively. Mary Coughlan also recorded Sweet Victim on the 1995 album Live In Galway as well as Still In Love and That Face on the 1997 album After The Fall.

Maura O’Connell
Maura O’Connell released a cover of Jimmy MacCarthy’s song Like In The Movies as a single in 1984 with the B-Side Where I Belong To You. Later Maura O’Connell recorded As I Leave Behind Neidin, Love Divine and Bright Blue Rose, which were released on the albums Just In Time, Stories and Naked With Friends released in 1988, 1995 and 2009 respectively. Maura O’Connell also recorded a version of Mystic Lipstick in its original language, and a full Irish language version titled Aisling Ghéar, as translated by Liam O Muirthile, which was released on the 1999 album Éist.

Michelle Lally
Michelle Lally recorded four of Jimmy MacCarthy’s songs for her 2006 album If This Be Love. These songs were Wonder Child, There Is No Night, Still By Your Side and Ride On.

O’Brien Brothers
The O’Brien Brothers recorded The Grip of Parallel and The Mad Lady & Me.

Paddy Reilly
Paddy Reilly recorded a cover of As I Leave Behind Neidin for his 1991 album The Gold and Silver Days, and in 2000 released The Mad Lady & Me, Missing You and The Parting for an album entitled Come Back Paddy Reilly.

Patricia Kaas
Patricia Kaas released a French cover of Still In Love in 2008, which was titled Je T’aime Encore and released on her album Kabaret.

Phil Coulter
Phil Coulter recorded an instrumental version of As I Leave Behind Neidin for his 2002 album A Song for Ireland.

Ray Lynam
Ray Lynam recorded a cover of Lorraine and released it on his 2016 album Then and Now.

Ronan Keating
Ronan Keating recorded No Frontiers for his 2021 album Songs From Home as a duet with Mary Black.

Rua
Rua recorded Ride On for their 2003 album Dream-Teller.

Sean Keane
Sean Keane recorded three of Jimmy MacCarthy’s songs on his 2000 album The Man That I Am. These songs were The Parting, A Dance As Old As Tears and The People of West Cork & Kerry (with revised lyrics and titled From West Cork to Derry).

Sean Sinnott
Sean Sinnott recorded four of Jimmy MacCarthy’s songs for his 2008 album The Claddagh. These songs were Baby’s Broken Heart, Ride On, Katie and Mystic Lipstick.

Sliabh Notes
Sliabh Notes released The People of West Cork & Kerry on their 2000 album Gleanntán.

The Black Family
The Black Family released Rough Ride on their 1989 album Time for Touching Home, marking Frances Black’s first time performing one of Jimmy MacCarthy’s songs.

The Celtic Tenors
The Celtic Tenors recorded a cover of The Contender, which was released on their 2002 album So Strong, the following year they released a cover of Mystic Lipstick on a self-titled promo CD published by Irish newspaper the Sunday Independent, Still By Your Side was released in 2006 on the album Remember Me as a duet with Deirdre Shannon and No Frontiers was released on the 2011 album Feels Like Home.
The Fureys
The Fureys released As I Leave Behind Neidin on their 1987 album The Fureys Finest.
The Urban Rogues
The Urban Rogues released The Mad Lady & Me on their 2002 album Talking of Movement.

Tommy Fleming
Tommy Fleming has recorded many of Jimmy MacCarthy’s songs over the years, starting with As I Leave Behind Neidin, his 2000 album The Contender featured the title track itself as well as The Highest Point and A Dance As Old As Tears, 2005’s Voice of Hope featured Bright Blue Rose, followed by Mystic Lipstick the following year on A Life Like Mine and Hey-Ho Believe on the 2012 album Begin.
Tommy O’Sullivan
Tommy O’Sullivan released three of Jimmy MacCarthy’s songs on his 2006 album Song Ablaze, these songs were The Contender, The People of West Cork & Kerry and As I Leave Behind Neidin.
Tracy Sands
Tracy Sands released Ride On and On My Enchanted Sights on her albums Voice on The Line and Enchanted respectively.
The Vards
The Vards released Wonder Child on their 2000 album A Time Of Change.
Wheelers and Dealers
Wheelers and Dealers released The Mad Lady & Me on their 2003 self-titled album.
